AWeber or Mailerlite… Which is better?

AWeber or Mailerlite? Deciding on an email marketing service provider can be a bit overwhelming for a new blogger.  Can we agree? It is necessary though in building an audience. When I set up my blog, I knew absolutely nothing about blogs. I had purchased a course that went step by step on setting up the blog and building sales funnels. I  would listen to the video, pause the video and do the actions. That is how my blog was built and my hosting provider and email marketing service provider was selected. It was the provider that the trainer recommended.  That my friends is how I became an AWeber customer.

I am not going to lie, I struggled with AWeber. It was not a user friendly platform to use for me. Maybe it was just me because I am not the most techie person. I just never became comfortable using the platform.  I would continually have to google how to do things on the site. That was frustrating and time consuming for me.

When I decided to take a look at some different providers and read several articles comparing other providers, that’s when I decided that I would give Mailerlite a try.  One of the biggest pros I kept reading was user friendly. I needed user friendly. The site can have all the features in the world and if you cannot figure out how to use them then you are wasting your money.

Today, I am going to do a comparison between AWeber and Mailerlite to shine some light on how the two compare.

COST:

AWeber:

AWeber offers a free 30 day trial but does not have a free package. The cheapest package is $29.00/ month. This package does allow for unlimited emails to be sent per month.

Mailerlite:

Mailerlite offers a free package up to 1000 subscribers.  This package allows for 12,000 emails per month to be sent.

Mailerlite has a free package while AWeber does not offer one

CREATING AMAZING CAMPAIGNS:

AWeber and Mailerlite both provide drag and drop editors that make it easy to create your designs.  They also have Newsletter templates that you can use for a monthly Newsletter.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

AWeber:

AWeber provides 24/7 customer service by phone or live chat for the $29.00 package.

Mailerlite:

Mailerlite provides 24/7 customer service by email for the free package. You can get live chat 24/7 for an additional $10.00/month.

UNSUBSCRIBE FORM:

Mailerlite verses AWeber features

Aweber:  Provides a standard form that will be sent when a subscriber unsubscribes.

Mailerlite: Provides an option for you to build the unsubscribe page.

SUBSCRIBERS:

AWeber counts people that have not confirmed their subscription and people in multiple lists. Subscribers are stored per list in AWeber. They also charge for duplicate and unsubscribed people unless you manually go into your account and delete them.  Since your plan is based on your number of subscribers, this can add up quickly.

SIGNUP FORMS:

Both AWeber and Mailerlite have the templates for signup forms and subscriber forms. AWeber only has embedded signup forms while Mailerlite has popup forms and embedded forms both.  Mailerlite also provides the option of landing pages, so you create within the software and not require an outside provider. I found that the subscriber forms in Mailerlite were much easier to build and integrate into word press. They both have IPad Apps, and they provide subscriber management.

While both providers Aweber and Mailerlite are excellent choices, you have to look at what your needs are and what your budget is for an email marketing service provider to decide which provider is going to be the best option for you.  For me, making the switch to Mailerlite was an easy one. I needed a more user friendly platform, so it would lead to increased activity.
