Why do some people succeed in the online space while others fail? I recently was reading “Why the Mighty Fall”, and it really made me dive deep into this concept. Collins states there are few ways to succeed, and yet a lot of ways to fail in business.
Thinking about why people fail in the online space, always brings me to the same answer. It always brings me to lack of clarity.
Lack of Clarity
Lack of clarity leads to so many things. When you lack clarity, you will lose focus. You are unable to focus because you have no idea of what to focus on. The lack of focus leads to inconsistency in your business. Collins said that inconsistency was the picture of mediocrity.
Lack of clarity can occur in so many places in your business. I joined Jacob Caris’s SAA last year, and his program is based on the MOCA framework. When you get to the root of a business, it does boil down to this framework. You have to have a proper mindset, an offer or product to sell, conversion strategy to convert prospects into buyers, and lastly an audience to sell the products to.
I know over the last year or so, I have struggled with clarity in my business. There are so many strategies you see, and it can lead to not knowing which strategy is best for you.
Products or Offer
I got hung up on what products to promote. I know that sounds crazy, but I think it happens more often than not. People want a business online, and yet they cannot decide what products are best to sell. Without a product or service to sell, you have no business. I can remember searching and searching, thinking I had to find the perfect product that I felt was a great product and the company had a great reputation. You would have thought I was the FBI when it came to the research I did. I have now realized that not deciding on a product was a form of self sabotage for me. It was what I used to protect me against risk of failure or even more risk of success.

Sales Conversion Strategy
You have to have clarity on what sales conversion strategy you are using to convert potential buyers into buyers. Are you going to have a one-to-one strategy or a one-to-many strategy? There are several possible strategies to use, so it is important to get clear on what strategy you are going to use in your business.
Audience Growth Strategy
You have to have clarity on your audience growth strategy. I think it is even more important to have clarity in who you actually want to sell to. Who is your ideal client or your customer avatar? Trying to sell to everyone will lead you to selling to no one. Get really clear on the who and how of audience growth.
I believe a lot of businesses fail because of cash flow issues. Again, that goes back to lack of clarity on what it means to run a profitable business. You have to remember that sales don’t always equal cash flow, and at the end of the day, cash flow is king.
Clarity will lead to focus. Focus will lead to consistency. Consistency will lead to a positive cash flow, and that will lead to success in your business.
Consistency
It is not about those things that you do occasionally. It is about those needle moving activities that you do day after day, even when you do not see the results.
I recently changed businesses. I added a new product to sell, and it is basically me starting over from the beginning with my audience building. Every day, I have to have clarity on how I am going to grow my audience, so that I can put the product and offer in front of them. I am blessed that the business that I chose has an incredible proven system for audience building, sales conversion, and of course wonderful products.
This one decision that I made to join this company has eliminated a lot of confusion from my business.
